Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT Veloce - 1966

Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT Veloce - 1966

The early “stepnose” was the original version of Alfa’s classic compact 1960s GT car and arguably still remains the most attractive version of them all. Correctly maintained and set up these cars are tremendously rewarding to drive and rivaled only by few classic cars when it comes to pure driving fun. The lines penned by a young Giugiaro when employed at Bertone are timeless and represents the 1960s “la dolce vita” of Italy. On the race track the 105 series Alfa GT proved a formidable competitor and won the European Touring Car championship for manufacturer no less than 5 times from 1966 to 1972 and with 4 individual championships for drivers too.

In 1966 the Veloce version was presented. 4 extra horsepower from 105 BHP to 109 BHP from the 1600 engine, bucket style sports seats and some detail trim as imitated wood veneer on the dashboard and 3 horisontal bars on the front grille set the more expensive Veloce from the standard Giulia Sprint GT.

This rare Alfa Giulia Sprint GT Veloce has just finished a ground-up restoration. It was taken completely apart to empty body shell and received a total ground up restoration. Body was blasted and welded with new body parts and then primed and painted in the correct Bluette (petrol blue) as delivered new from the factory.  Interior is with the rare and sought after "Zagato" bucket seats in new upholstery in thick cognac leather, new carpets and head lining. Suspension and brakes are new too. Gearbox and the correvt Veloce series 536 engine has been rebuilt with all the bearings, pistons and liners, cam gear, valves, guides etc., that goes into a rebuild of a standard engine.

A nice opportunity to aquire the rare Veloce version of the original stepnose Sprint GT beautiful presented with period correct GTA alloys.
