CAR HAS BEEN SOLD THANK YOU
We are pleased once again to be able to offer a real drivers car based on the beloved Bertone coupe – the nickname for Alfa Romeos classic Giulia GT Series. The model – introduced in 1963 – was produced in many variants throughout the years, initially with the stepnose variant Giulia GT with the 1600 engine. Following the facelift in 1967 the 1750 engine was now the strongest version, and the design was updated with a smooth front and 4 headlamps. Final development was the 2000 GT Veloce, in production until 1976. All the versions enjoyed great success on the roads as well on the race tracks, where Alfa Romeo had many victories with the GTA and GTAm.
All models shared an elegant design with harmonious proportions combined with classic Alfa Romeo technic. Based on the famous “North” 4 cyl. twin cam all aluminum engine with 2 double carburetors. Add to that the smooth 5-speed aluminum gearbox, disc brakes on all wheels and the result was an all-time usable GT car. Not the fastest nor the most expensive, but perhaps the best combination of virtues, which ensured affection from many enthusiasts around the world.
This example has been made a real drivers car. Based on an Italian delivered 1600 GT Junior the body and mechanics received a high quality restauration. In fact we are quite impressed with the quality of work performed. Doors and hoods has an excellent fit and the paint is close to perfect. A 2000 engine is installed, ensuring added drivability and superior torque. The body is lowered a bit with a sports suspension kit, new coils, dampers and bushings were installed. Add to this beautiful GTA wheels, and the result is a superb handling car. Interior is made in black leather, which combined with the exterior Alfa Rosso color and the super elegant look of the Nardi steering wheel, completes the all time classic look.
Recently the cylinder head was freshly renovated with new valves, valvesteam, valve cups and camshafts. Outcome is a smooth and quiet running engine. In fact the engine runs extremly well, with a clean pull up through the revs. Combined with GTA style air intake on the carburetors the seductive sound is perfectly matched to this classic Alfa Romeo.
The car just waits for its new owner to enjoy exploring hills and corners in this perfect GT package. Or why not a trip through Europe, across the Alps towards the holy grail of every enthusiast – The Stelvio Pass of course! Voted “The best driving route” by Top Gear. And then go on climbing the Furka pass, having in mind the scenes with Tilly Masterson and Sean Connery in “Goldfinger”. Pure enjoyment with this pocket rocket GT.
