The result of one man’s dream of the ultimate MGB. The car that Abingdon should have, but never managed to build. Partly due to lack of economical resources and partly because of poor management in mother company British Leyland. Restoration takes place in 2003 to 2006 and was conducted to the highest standard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The basis is the classic chrome bumper roadster  from 1969 dismantled, cleaned to bare metal and then finished in British Racing Green. The large 3.9 litre V8 was taken from a MGB RV8. Engine was rebuilt and fitted with a couple of  Edelbrock Stage II ‘ fast road ‘ cylinder heads, Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and filter. A full sync 5-speed  Rover gearbox  and rear axle from MGC wither higher gearing ratio was fitted to take full benefit of the more than doubled power output.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also to match the increased power, brakes are upgraded to MGC brakes in a 2-circuit system and with  brake servo. Heavier sway bars and 72 spoke wire wheels to finish off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The luxurious interior is an orgy in leather and polished walnut burr,  adjustable seats with head rests, velour carpets, multiple instruments, Moto Lita steering wheel and wooden gear knob, radio with cd, washer\/wiper with interval control. Mohair soft top and tonneau cover. There is, on the whole, done a lot make this vehicle as luxurious and comfortable to stay in as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many other upgrades witnesses about the project’s uncompromising approach: Aluminium valve covers  with cooling fins and MG logo, Busch aluminium radiator with doubled capacity, electric fan on the radiator, stainless exhaust, very powerful ‘ turbo ‘ starter motor, etc., etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The total project costs exceeds \u20ac60.000 and a new owner gets an extremely fine and delicious MG at a price which does not reflect the building costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will agree that there somewhere in the world is a MGB with V8 engine which can be had a little cheaper than this. We can only say that to end up with such a beautiful, harmonic and complete package like this, such a project involves so much more than simply plump a V8 engine in a standard MGB. There is not a clonk or rattle anywhere in this car and the approximately 200 HP gives a very competent  car. Nose heavy? Not at all.  Most are probably aware that the V8 engine in aluminum is lighter than the heavy 6-cylinder engine in the MGC. Few however, are probably aware that the V8 engine is actually 45lbs lighter than the small 4 cylinder cast-iron engine in standard MGB. Danish papers. EU taxes paid. We ship worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
