The Carrera RS was a super-lightweight and puristic version of the standard 964 Carrera. Built to compete in the Carrera Cup series, it was only available in Europe. It was the first 911 that actually could be regarded the spiritual successor to the iconic 2.7 Carrrera RS from the early 70’es. At a quick glance not much different from the standard 964, but just as is racebred ancestor, it was a very different beast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The RS featured a revised 3.6 engine with 260 BHP. A ligthenend flywheel provided better engine response. The 5-speed G50\/10 gearbox had closer ratios, asymmetrical limited slip differential and steel syncromeshes. Further modifications included 40mm lowered suspension with stiffer springs, shocks, adjustable sway bars and expensive magnesium 17″ Cup wheels. Front brakes came from the Turbo. To strengthend the body it was seam welded. The bonnet is aluminium. Side windows had reduced glass thickness from 4.8 to 3.7 mm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interior was spartan and to some extend stripped out with much reduced sound deadening material and rear seats removed. No air con, no electric windows. Even the doorhandles was replaced by a simple strap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This drastic diet resulted in a substantial weight saving from 1450 kg to 1220 kg. So alltough the power output was no more than 10 BHP extra compared to the standard Carreras 250 BHP, it led to a much more agile and responsive car. In fact a worthy successor to the faboulous 2.7 RS. So capable that the  911 driver par excellence<\/em> and Ringmeister<\/em> Walter R\u00f6rhl holds the 964 RS as his personal favorite sportscar of all time. The RS is not an intimidating, brutal monster like a +600 BHP 993 twin turbo. Its a very well balanced car with sufficient power and faboulous road holding and is capable of giving any driver an extraordinary experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The RS was considered too radical and extreme for the american market, so a RS America was introduced. This was however merely a standard Carrera with less equipment and has not much in common with the european RS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides the more traditional colors of black, red, white and silver these cars were offered in a few ‘cheerful’ colors as speed yellow, RS blue and this gorgeous rubystone, or in German ‘Sternrubin’. A total of only 2282 of these RS was built and these wonderful machines are now highly sought after among Porsche purists and collectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This car was sold new in Switzerland from Porsche dealer AMAG in Bern to its 1st owner on October 30. 1992. It was delivered from factory with the options of tri-color leather carbon race seats, Heigo Club Sport roll cage, the very expensive 17″ magnesium Club Sport wheels, spacers with longer studs on rear wheels and several other factory options. 2006 it was sold to its 2nd Swiss owner with a tacho of 56.058 KM and in 2008 its Danish owner took over now with a tacho of 60.500 KM. Partly due to the insane taxes on cars in Denmark and and partly because this Porsche enthusiast already had twelve cars in his collection (all 911) it was never road registered here in Denmark. This 3 owner RS is absolutely pristine with matching numbers,  no accidents, never raced and still in its original paint without a scratch or dent. In other words: This car is in every detail exactly<\/span> as it left the factory and has only done 63.000 km from new. We have documentation to back up this cars history.
