Alfa Romeo’s midsize saloon, the 2000 Berlina is quite a bit of a Q-car. Behind its modest and discrete look lures a capable and quite potent car with excellent and sporty road holding. Disc brakes on all 4 wheels, a 2 liter full alloy engine with double overhead camshafts, 2 twin 40mm Dellorto carburetors and a power output of 130 BHP pulling through a 5-speed gearbox and a rear diff with 25% limited slip. Not exactly a set of common specs of the ordinary family saloon in 1970. With a price tag some 50% higher than for instance a Volvo 142 the Alfa wasn’t exactly the most achievable for the successful middle manager of the early 70es, but then again the Alfa had that little extra. Where the standard Volvo 142 struggled to keep 165 km/t on the motorway the Alfa didn’t clock out before close to 200 km/t.
This gorgeous 2000 Berlina comes from a mechanic in Palermo who has restored the car for himself. The restoration was done with great skills and the outmost attention to details. We have had and tried hundreds of 105-serie Alfas through the years, Bertone GTs, Spiders, Giulias, but we have only very rarely experienced a 105 Alfa that comes this close to how these cars drove and performed when they left the factory. Every detail and function on this car, from the steering, the brakes, the gearbox and engine to the general handling and the smallest switch feels like a brand new car. The car is in extraordinary condition from the very nice paint is Blu Ollandese (Dutch blue) to the interior is black Alcantara. This Berlina is such a pleasure to drive that everyone who likes these wonderful Alfas should have a chance to try this one and experience for themselves what this fuzz with Alfa Romeo is all about.
