This T5B Reutter cabrio was sold new in Germany in 1961. In 1965 it was imported to Denmark were it has been since. In 1997-98 it was partly restored with buttoms up in a rotisserie. Body was repaired for rust. Worn parts in suspension and brakes were changed. It was repainted in black and received new leather interior by a professional upholsterer. At the same time the original engine was swapped with a 95 BHP SC (Super Carrera) engine trimmed by ‘Dr Engine’ of the golden era in Danish motorsport, race engineer Poul Heichendorff. We have photo documentation of this process.
It needs a new hood, but the complete hood folding mechanism is present. This car has not seen much use since 1998 and it drives superb. Engine starts on the button, runs like a swiss watch and pulls quite impressively. The 356 could now benefit from a cosmetic restoration or it could be enjoyed as it is. An excellent opportunity to acquire and immediately enjoy one of these increasingly expensive cars at a reasonable price.
