Alfa Romeo Montreal – 1972

As Alfa enthusiasts during more than 20 years we have had the pleasure of owning ourselves and dealing with several Montreals. We have however never had our hands on a Montreal in a condition like this. It is in every detail and function what can only be described as perfect.

The Montreal was sold new in 1972 in Germany to Bayerische Eigenthumsbau. In 1983 the CEO of the same company bought the car out of his company and later the same year sold it to Ulli Franke, now with a mileage from new of 48.940 KM.  Herr Franke never registers the car, but only drives it occasionally on temporary license plates. He keeps the car well preserved until 2007 where a Danish collector and experienced restorer of Alfas buys the car. It is his third Montreal and he knows exactly what he wants. He commences a 2 year restoration on the Montreal.  As an Alfa restorer with high standards and a personal friend of Bruce Taylor, author of several reference books on the Montreal, he spares absolute no expenses, knowledge and skills to get this one right.

Every detail on this car is up to the standard as it left the factory. It is and immense joy to take the drivers seat, turn the ignition key and, without  even touching the gas pedal, experience the V8 rumbles into life and immediately ticks over in a perfect idle without a single cough or backfire. It takes a lot of patience and knowledge to get the Spica injection with all its auxiliary components and the Marelli Plex ignition to work in a symphony like this. It also demonstrates how marvelous a design this Alfa race bred engine really was when new.

This Montreal is all about how the Montreal really was and can be. Interior is new tan leather. Paint is arguably the most gorgeous of all the Montreal wonderful 70’es colors, the Arancia. It now has a total mileage of 55.700 KM from new.
