Lotus Elan +2S 130/5 – 1973

With its long, swept lines the +2 is by many considered the more elegant Elan. The 126 BHP ‘Big Valve’ Lotus Twin Can engine and 5 speed gearbox makes the 130/5 a genuine high speed sportscar and handling and road holding on twisty country roads is almost legendary.

This +2 was registered new on March 1973 and was in 2007 subject to a total ‘frame-off’ restoration. A 1 year old back bone chassis was shot blasted and zinc plated. Front and rear wishbones with bushes all new from Lotus. Reconditioned steering rack, plates and handbrake levers in stainless steel, wheel bearing new, 4 new Lotus shock absorbers, all brake calipers reconditioned and with new lines and hoses. Engine and gearbox received a complete rebuild, with all bearings, timing chain, new pistons and rings, cylinder head ported and flowed and with new valves and guides. Crankshaft, flywheel, pulley and conrods all balanced, oil, water and fuel pumps new, complete clutch assembly and gearbox rebuilt with all new bearings. Car has done less than 2000 kilometers after end resauration. Also a lot of trim, carpets, head lining etc. renewed and a set of original Lotus alloys with knock-on center nuts completes this attractive and capable sportscar.

The car has Northern Irish (UK) papers and EU VAT is paid.
