MG MGA Roadster 1500 – 1957

The first brand new post-war sports car from MG was the A model.  Very handsome in design with fenders integrated in the beautifully swept body lines and very modern compared to the old fashioned pre-war T models with external fenders. Gone was the ageing XPAG engine in favor of the then new B-series engine. In 1955, after 20 years of absence, BMC entered 3 works prepared MGA’s  in the 24 hour Le Mans. Taking 12th and 17th over all after blistering fast cars like Jaguar D-Types and Aston Martins was a remarkable achievement that helped boosting the sale of the nimble little sports car. The MGA was to become one of the most successful cars from the works in Abingdon and today it is rightfully considered an all time classic. With its simple mechanics and unlimited supply of spare parts, both original and performance parts, it is as easy to maintain as it is a joy to own and drive now more than 60 years after its introduction.

90% of the British post war sportscar production went to the North American market and so did this MGA. It came from California to Denmark in 1988. In 1990 a complete restoration of the car was started, and it went on for more than 2 years. The result was stunning, no detail was overseen and the car could once again raise and give the new owner great pleasure. The cost of restoring the car was more than double the value, which indicate that the owner restored the car for himself, not with the purpose to sell it off. Full documentation is at hand to proof the work done. A detail indicating the level of restoration, the engine was not restored; a brand new engine was sourced. And it goes on and on.

The car has had 2 owners since then, both taking very well care of it. It presents itself even today as a very beautiful representative of the early and original MGA Roadster. Driving the car is pure pleasure, and the car comes complete with full weather gear as well as tonneau. No work required, the car is ready to be enjoyed, just grab the keys and drive out the countryside with a smile.
